Why Pella of Denver Chose Victory Truck Bodies for Smarter, More Efficient Deliveries

Victory built demountable truck bodies for Pella of Denver for faster, efficient window/door delivery.

Video Description

Victory Truck Body teamed up with Pella of Denver and Bruckner Truck Leasing to develop demountable truck bodies that make window and door delivery faster and more efficient. Built on a MACK MD chassis and engineered with rugged composite panels and stainless steel, these bodies are designed to stand up to tough routes while staying easy to use. Interior features like swing doors and F-track cargo control help crews stay organized and get in and out faster. And because they’re demountable, drivers can drop off a loaded body, pick up an empty one, freeing up warehouse space and cutting downtime to a minimum. It’s a no-nonsense solution for building supply pros who don’t have time to waste.

Introduction to Demountable Equipment

Hey, this is Gerry Hazzard from Victory Truck Body. And what you see here is, some beautiful demountable equipment built by Victory. And we teamed up this time with Pella of Denver, as well as Bruckner Truck Leasing to put together this awesome equipment for Pella. And we'll just kind of take a walk around and take a look at this awesome body that we built here.

Pella's Requirements for Truck Bodies

So Pella asked us to build some demountable bodies, right. And they wanted some really high quality, durable truck bodies. And I'll get into it in a little bit. But the idea behind demountables is these bodies come on and off the truck.

Durability and Design Features

So you want something that's going to last long and hold up to continuous use. So what we did is we built a body out of plate, which is very durable sidewall material. A lot of stainless steel components it’s got galvanized legs that will hold up over time against the weather. So coming around the rear of the body here, you're going to notice they got swing doors, which is very important to Pella because they load windows and doors and doors aren't getting any smaller nowadays.

Importance of Entrance Height

So entrance height from the rear is very important to them when loading out of their dock. So with the swing doors, you get more height. So let's take a look on the inside. Now, when Pella loads.

Loading and Delivery Efficiency

They like the section their delivery stops. And in order to do that, they asked us for rows of F-track in the floor and the ceiling. So by using these poles, they can section off their load by delivery, stop and slide their windows and doors in between the poles using the awesome f-track that we put in the floor. The doors are also made out of the same materials are sidewalls, which is plate.

Collaboration with Bruckner Leasing

So again, the idea of building a durable body that will last outlast the life of the truck. And speaking of the truck here, Bruckner Leasing provided Pella with an awesome Mack MD, which is their medium duty straight truck chassis non CDL, which is still possible with the Demountable system. Teaming up with Bruckner and Pella, we also up fitted this demountable truck with an Anthony lift gate because when they get to the job sites, rather than hand off loading heavy windows and doors, or coming down a ramp which could be unsafe, they opted for a nice platform lift gate to lower the product to the ground safely.

Challenges Faced by Window and Door Companies

Okay, so as promised, I want to tell you a little bit about the demountable system, but first let me tell you why Pella uses it. Some of the challenges that window and door companies see is they have to wait for their trucks to return at the end of the day to start loading. And since they have to do that, you have the warehouse that pulling windows off the production line, putting them in carts, rolling them to the bay door and staging them in their warehouse at the bay door. You can imagine at the end of the day, you have multiple shipments getting staged in your warehouse, which takes up a ton of warehouse space.

Streamlining the Loading Process

Plus, you're touching product extra times by pulling them off the line, staging them, and then picking them again and putting them in the truck. When the trucks come back. With demountable, you have a body that stands on legs. This body can stand right up against the dock door.

So what Pella does is they demount it at their dock and instead of picking from the production line and staging, they pick it from the production line and load it directly into the body. So you're eliminating that extra touch, and you're also speeding up the loading process and freeing up all that warehouse space throughout the day, which opens up multiple possibilities of maybe extra racking, extra production equipment, etc. for these window companies. How it works it's pretty simple, actually.

Demountable System Operation

It only takes about ten minutes to drop a body off and pick up another body. We have our entire operating system here for the lifter all set up. On the driver side, you have one handle that controls all eight locking hooks on this truck that locks the body down to the truck so the driver doesn't have to do that much work at all to operate the system. It's just a simple swing down.

Adjustability and User-Friendliness

Bodies unlocked. You have your demountable legs here that simply slide out from underneath the floor. And to make it even better for companies that have sloped docks or uneven pavement. You can adjust your drop height on your legs.

Evolution of the Demountable System

So we really kept, a lot of things in mind when designing this demountable system back in 1989, and it's really evolved over time to become that much more durable and much more user friendly. It's pretty much it.
