Employee Spotlight: Kerrin O'Connor, MyGlassTruck Production Manager

Header image

For this spotlight, we’re proud to feature Kerrin O’Connor, Production Manager for MyGlassTruck and a 13-year member of the Victory team. With deep shop-floor experience and a hands-on leadership style, Kerrin has played a vital role in shaping the glass rack product line, from supporting major production transitions to helping the team grow and take on new capabilities. Known for his dedication and the family-like culture he fosters, Kerrin represents what Victory is all about: people who take pride in their craft, stand behind the product, and show up every day ready to win together.

Just to start out: What’s your name and what do you do here at Victory?

Kerrin: My name is Kerrin O’Connor, and I'm the Production Manager for the MyGlassTruck line of products here at Victory Truck Body.

How did you get your start here at Victory?

Kerrin: I started working here 13 years ago, and I found the company through an ad on Craigslist. I started out in our fleet service department, and then I moved over to the MyGlassTruck production line. I've been in the glass department since July 2013.

Is there a project or product you’ve worked on that stands out as a favorite?

Kerrin: Honestly, every product is rewarding. You see so many of our trucks out on the road, and that’s always a great feeling.

But one project that really stood out was moving the entire shop from one building to another. It was a huge job, and with everyone’s help, we got it done in a week, really in about three days. That was a major accomplishment.

What does “Victory” mean to you?

Kerrin: To me, “Victory” is a win. Seeing what Rustin was able to build in such a short time is a victory in itself. He had a vision, and he made it happen.

Personally, Victory means coming to work every day with the guys I work with. It feels like family. When you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like a job. I’ve never woken up dreading coming in. That’s a win to me.

Alright, it’s time for your elevator pitch. Why should companies choose Victory over anyone else?

Kerrin: We build the best products on the market, and we're the largest manufacturer of glass racks and bodies in the industry. You can go from Maine to Florida, or from here to California, and you will find our bodies, trucks, and racks everywhere. There’s a reason why people all over the country trust what we build.

When you’re off the clock, what do you like to do?

Kerrin: Fishing, specifically salt water and deep sea fishing. I'll go 80 to 100 miles out for tuna and other big fish. My most recent big catch was a 42-inch striper. Sometimes I’ll cook what I catch, but most of the time I will give it away. I just enjoy the sport; there’s nothing like bringing in a 50 - 80-pound fish.

Do you have a personal motto or quote that guides you?

Kerrin: “Do it for the cause, and not the applause.”

Don't just do something to show that you're doing it, do it for a reason. I heard it years ago, and it's always stuck with me.

Just for fun, what’s your favorite food, and what’s the story behind it?

Kerrin: I have to go with pizza. There are just so many styles, toppings, and different ways you can make it. My favorite topping is probably bacon. I enjoy gourmet pizzas, like chicken parm, but usually I’ll stick with plain.

Growing up, my family worked in a traveling carnival, so we ate a lot of carnival food. Pizza was always one of the main staples for us.
