For this spotlight, we’re featuring Robert Chasmar, Supervisor of Victory’s frame assembly work center. With a background in custom fabrication and close to two decades of hands-on experience, Robert brings both skill and passion to the shop floor. Since joining Victory six years ago, he’s played a key role in advancing production capabilities, including introducing robotics to streamline fabrication and improve precision. His story reflects what sets Victory apart: skilled people, innovative processes, and a commitment to building the best truck bodies in the industry.

Let’s start with the basics: What’s your name and what do you do here at Victory?

Robert: My name is Robert Chasmar, and I’m the Supervisor in charge of our new framing division here at Victory.

How did you get your start at Victory?

Robert: I first learned about Victory online. At the time, I was still working in the entertainment industry, where I spent about thirteen years doing custom fabrication work. I was looking for something along those same lines, a job that involved welding, metalwork, fabrication, really anything hands-on.

I applied for the job online. The company wasn’t far from my old job, maybe a 35-minute drive. I looked up Victory, or Demountable Concepts, as it was then, saw what the company was about, and decided to go for an interview. That was six years ago.

Is there a project or product you’ve worked on that stands out as a favorite?

Robert: One of the most exciting projects was when we started incorporating robotics into our production. It was a big leap forward for us, especially for smaller parts, both in terms of efficiency and precision.

I worked closely with the engineering department on cross-training, programming the robotic welder, and building fixtures. Being part of that process and figuring out how to manufacture and weld all our smaller components more efficiently was really rewarding.

What does “Victory” mean to you?

Robert: Honestly, I feel good about being here. I feel better about this job than I did in my old career. Victory has a family atmosphere. People care about each other, and that makes a difference.

I’m especially excited about the growth of our truck body line, especially the work we’re doing with stainless steel frames. As we continue to ramp up production, it’s going to be a great opportunity for everyone here.

Alright, it’s time for your elevator pitch. Why should companies choose Victory over anyone else?

Robert: Our quality sets us apart. I’ve seen other shops that do similar work, and the environment and output just don’t compare.

Our welders and fabricators are true professionals. Every part is QC’d. I’m confident that we build the best truck bodies in the world, hands down. There’s no competition that comes close to the quality we produce here.

When you’re off the clock, what do you like to do?

Robert: My daughter’s grown and mostly out of the house, and my son still lives at home. During the week, it’s a pretty normal routine. But on weekends, my wife and I like to go out. Sometimes we take my son to local flea markets, and other times it’s just me and my wife riding our motorcycle. That’s our favorite way to spend the weekend.

Do you have a personal motto or quote that guides you?

Robert: Be kind to each other. Work is hard enough. Life is hard enough. There’s no reason not to treat each other with respect.

Just for fun, what’s your favorite food, and what’s the story behind it?

Robert: Tacos. Specifically, the ones my wife makes for my birthday every year. I only have them once a year, so they are special. After that first bite, it’s like discovering them all over again.
